Defend the Endangered Species Act: Act by December 22 for Nature’s Future
Act Now to Protect Wildlife and Clean Water
The Endangered Species Act was intended to protect animals and plants from disappearing forever, but now the federal , government wants to weaken these protections. That means more species could become endangered or even go extinct.
One major change would remove the “Blanket Rule”, which gives threatened species the same protections as endangered species. Without this safeguard, many species would while waiting for new species-specific rules which would put them at greater risk.
Why This Matters
The Endangered Species Act is the cornerstone of America’s commitment to preventing extinction and preserving biodiversity. Weakening it would accelerate species loss and degrade ecosystems that sustain agriculture, clean water, and climate resilience. Removing the “Blanket Rule” undermines decades of progress and creates unnecessary delays in protecting vulnerable species.
