Dear Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways,

I am writing to express my strong support for the proposed Alternative 3c improvements to Quentin Road between Lake Cook Road and Dundee Road in Palatine.

As a community member, I believe improving this corridor and enhancing access to Deer Grove Forest Preserve is essential for safety and quality of life. The current road conditions create congestion. They also pose risks for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Making this route safer and more accessible will benefit everyone whether they’re commuting, enjoying outdoor recreation, or simply traveling through the area. Investing in these improvements supports a healthier, more connected community.

I support Alternative 3c because it:

1. Adds a shared-use path for walkers and bikers, making it safer and easier to enjoy the forest preserve.

2. Improves traffic flow with dedicated turn lanes and new signals, reducing congestion and accidents.

3. Replaces the aging bridge over Salt Creek with a design that improves sight lines and protects water quality.

4. Minimizes environmental impact by limiting land acquisition and following tree mitigation policies.

These improvements strike the right balance between mobility and conservation. They will enhance safety, protect sensitive wetlands, and maintain access to one of Cook County’s most treasured natural areas.
